Biography[]
John Hooker worked at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency as Lane Pryce's secretary after merging with Puttnam, Powell, and Lowe.
John was not happy with the title "secretary," though he insisted that his status was not that of the other secretaries at Sterling Cooper. He once told Joan Holloway that "I'm Mr. Pryce's right arm; I'm not his typist." He insisted that the switchboard operators address him as "Mr. Hooker" rather than as "John".
He assumed Joan's position as office manager after her departure to become a housewife. ("Guy Walks Into an Advertising Agency")
He was called "Moneypenny" by a variety of Sterling Cooper employees, much to his chagrin.
It is not clear whether he stayed with McCann Erickson after they acquired both Puttnam, Powell, and Lowe and Sterling Cooper.
Trivia[]
