Hello! My name is Irving Green and I'm the actor who played Troy in Season 5. I created the page, giving detailed back story information about my character that was told to me directly by the director (Jennifer Getzinger) and writer (Matthew Weiner) while auditioning and even while filming the episode on set.
I'm curious as to why that page was deleted as I have linked it to my IMDb page. Troy originally was meant to be a recurring character for more episodes as the information I wrote on the page was not only backstory, but tied to Megan Draper and Julia. Given the time the episode aired and the political climate at the time, I believe that's why the show changed direction for his development. However, he still deserves to have a page. Thank you.
Hey there! I'm Jamie from FANDOM's Community Development team! I'm not sure if we ever asked you guys if you are interested in turning on the Discussions feature for the Mad Men community and migrating the Threaded Forums across as well.
In case you are unaware of the feature (which you probably are, but here's here's the spiel just in case), Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. Discussions also links with our FANDOM Apps, which this community has and it allows app users to easily take part in Discussions as well. You can read more about Discussions here.
For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.
If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions and Forums will be sunsetted as a feature, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.
Feel free to have an open discussion about this, and I'm available with any questions you might have. Have a good one!
Hello, I’m Tim, Fandom’s Director of Technical Support. I’m here to inform you that on the 14th of February, Fandom will remove the Top 10 List feature from our wikis.
The removal of the feature will mean that previously created Top 10 Lists will be deleted from your community and be irretrievable. As this community has a higher-than-usual amount of Top 10 Lists, I wanted to give you advanced notice so you can determine if you want to save any lists and, if so, copy the content elsewhere on the wiki.
Please know that the decision to remove any feature from our platform was not easy. In this case, Top 10 Lists were not very widely used by our wikis, with only a couple thousand being created in the five years we’ve had this feature. That may sound like a lot, but consider Fandom has over 340,000 communities. Additionally, many of special features Top 10 Lists had, such as voting, ranking, and the list creation form was prone to break due to older coding standards and would not have been easy to modernize considering the uniqueness of the platform.
At the end of the day, Fandom decided we would rather invest our time and resources into newer content tools or repairing tools that are much more widely used. Sorry that I cannot do more - Top 10 Lists were, in fact, a feature I designed - but I hope this explanation helps understand Fandom’s rationale. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Did you know that approximately half of the visits across Wikia are coming from mobile devices? To support that mobile traffic, Wikia is creating iOS and Android apps that focus exclusively on individual communities.
We are happy to inform you that the Mad Men community has been selected to receive a dedicated community app. This means that you will have an app exclusively for your community that you, the admins, can curate!
Please see this help page that will explain how manage your content in your community app, and also ways to promote your Community App on your own community. Here is a link to the where you can curate. I've already gotten it going, feel free to edit as you see fit!
If you have any questions about the Community App itself, how to manage content on it, or how to promote it, please write in to Special:Contact.
Thanks for being an exceptional community! Good luck with the app! I can't belive the show is almost done!!!
