Overview[]

Patio Cola was a diet cola. It was introduced as a sugar free cola marketed to diabetics but Pepsi, Patio's parent company, soon realized they would have a better market share if they pitched their product to women as tool for staying slim.

Patio Cola still exists today. It was rebranded as Diet Pepsi in 1963.

Client of Sterling Cooper[]

In 1963, Sterling Cooper attempted to create a commercial based off the popular film of the time, "Bye Bye Birdie". While the agency followed their instructions to a T, the clients were not impressed, not exactly sure why they didn't like the advertisement. Roger sums up the problem: "It's not Ann-Margret." ("The Arrangements")
